Laurie Thyne
As a player Laurie Thyne represented the North for in excess of 25 years and played in the original North vs South matches (men).
At national level Laurie also represented Tasmania in 1952 and 1953.
As an administrator Laurie was a Northern delegate to the Tasmanian Golf Council from 1938 – 1960.
Laurie was a Tasmanian Golf Council Delegate to the Australian Golf Union through out the 1950’s.
Laurie was bestowed life membership of the Tasmanian Golf Council in 1965, the governing body’s first life member.
Laurie Thyne passed away on March 13, 1993 and the Thyne Trophy is named in recognition of Laurie’s contribution to golf in Tasmania.

EVENT FORMAT
Friday 28 April – Official Practice
Saturday 29 April, 1.00pm – Round 1
Sunday 30 April, 7.30am – Rounds 2
Sunday 30 April, 12.00pm – Rounds 3
REGISTRATION & TOURNAMENT OFFICE
All team Managers are asked to report to the Tournament Office prior to the commencement of each round. The Tournament Office will be located inside of the clubhouse.
Players will be required to advise the result of their match to the scorers located in the clubhouse upon completion of their round.
PRACTICE FACILITIES & BALLS
Practice facilities will be available to players.
CADDIES
Caddies are permitted for the Championship.
CATERING
Players are welcome to purchase lunch from the club’s Caterer.
DISTANCE MEASURING DEVICES/GPS
Distance measuring devices are permitted for the Championship.
READY GOLF
The championship is a “Ready Golf” event. “Ready Golf” should be played, but in a safe and responsible way. Play when you are ready
DRESS REQUIREMENTS
All players and caddies are required to adhere to the club’s dress regulations.
MOBILE PHONES
Mobile phones may be used on the golf course during competition to access a distance measuring device application, to call for a ruling or in case of emergency.
COURSE CARE
The host club has kindly given up their course for the duration of the event. In return, it is important that the course is left in a suitable condition at the completion of the Championship. Competitors must carry and use a sand bucket to fill in divots, repair pitch marks and take care in raking bunkers, particularly during the practice round. Any competitor seen to be in breach of this request may face action under Golf Australia’s Code of Conduct.
COVID SAFE
Please remember to keep all players, caddies, spectators, staff, and volunteers safe, you must always practice good hygiene and physical distancing. Good hygiene includes washing hands, coughing into elbow and sanitising. Please always remember the 1.5 metre rule for social distancing. If you feel unwell, you must stay home and not contest the event. Refunds will be given to any player who needs to withdraw due to illness.
COVID-19 VACCINATION POLICY
Golf Australia conducts all events in a COVID Safe environment and under the State Government’s guidelines in the management of COVID-19.
In line with the Tasmanian Department of Health’s directions, if a participant (defined as a player, caddie or staff member) in a Golf Australia event tests positive for COVID-19 during the event, the following process must take place:
Participant: must withdraw from the tournament immediately by notifying a Golf Australia staff member and isolate as per Government guidelines.
All players are reminded that all covid safe practices such as regular cleaning of hands, utilizing sanitizing products and general physical distancing practices should be followed while also avoiding direct contact (shaking hands etc.).
In addition, all participants who are deemed to be a close contact by the Department of Health, Tasmania must at all times follow any direct instructions provided by the Department of Health, Tasmania which override the above process.
